ThrowBack Tuesdays #2
Artist: Dynamix II
Title: Machine Planet
Genre: Electro/Bass
Release Date: 1993
This an interesting track showcasing the early steps of Electro music’s departure from traditional Bass music into a more Techno infused Electro sound. This departure most certainly aided in Electro’s revival in the late 90’s and still continues to this day.
Thursday Tracklisting #1
Remixer: Future Engineers
Artist: Electrosoul System
Title: Grad (Future Engineers Remix)
Genre: Drum & Bass/Artcore
Release Date: 2009
The latest from the world of Drum & Bass. It runs a beautiful and perfect line between the classic drum programming of drum and bass and the soothing almost hypnotizing lead synths you find in Artcore. This is a track that can take you away from reality.
Profile: Amos Larkins
A pioneer of Miami Bass if not the father of Miami Bass. In 1985, five years after the release of the Roland TR-808, Amos Larkins unintentionally sustained the kick drum of the TR-808 on a couple of test tracks that were subsequently released. He initially intended to fix this error but did not after receiving heavy praise on this newly created sound.
This sustained TR-808 kick soon became the staple for the Miami Bass sound. A genre that would influence electronic dance and hip hop music till this day.In a nutshell, the popular sounds of Flo Rida, Lil Jon, Ying Yang Twins, and the Crunk movement would have not come to be if it wasn’t for this accident.
